Goals: To work closely with my fellow officers and BSSA members in order to develop BSSA into one of the most prominent and beneficial student organizations on campus.

Jessica Liu
Major(s): Biochemistry and Cell Biology
College: Eleanor Roosevelt College
Hometown: San Jose, CA
Class Year: Junior
Goals: This year I want to promote communication among officers and members. In addition to keeping records and managing administrative tasks, I intend to get to know more members at different BSSA events in order to plan BTC’s that are better suited for their interests. I plan to provide officer support and to encourage member participation.

Major(s):Bioengineering: Pre-Med, Visual Arts: Studio
College: Thurgood Marshall College
Hometown: Torrance, California
Class Year: Sophomore
Goals: My plan for BSSA this year is to wean off the the financial support of the Dean's office and to be able to utilize the resources around campus to achieve and maintain fiscal autoimmunity as a student organization. My hope is to refinance the budget in a manner that will not effect frequency nor the quality of the events BSSA holds throughout the year.
Nicholas Ridout
Major(s): Human Biology, Economics
College: Marshall College
Hometown: Rancho Palos Verdes, California
Class Year: Sophomore
Goals: I would like to branch out BSSA as far out as it can reach. Biology is a renown major in our school and all of the bio-major
students should definitely be aware of our organization. I would like to
have a more organized contact member list. Non-officer members could work with me to gain more knowledge about how the association keeps track of its members and to possibly help more students become aware of the association and what we have to offer.

Major(s): General Biology, Human Development
College: Eleanor Roosevelt College
Hometown: Torrance, California
Class Year: Senior
Goals: I would like to have at least 2 times the people to come to our events. I want to accomplish this by posting short teaser posters up throughout the whole year and have a more aggressive, yet cost effective ad campaign a month before the event. I will try to find cheap ways to do this but some input would be appreciated.

Major(s):Physiology & Neuroscience, Psychology

Class Year: Senior
Goals: What I want to accomplish this year is to have all of our BSSA members to interact with each other and to socialize in an informal setting. Since all of us are Biology majors/minors, I think it would be good for them to get to know other students who are taking the same classes that they are. Not only could they form study groups, share materials or advice to each other, but they can also form friendships and learn how to take a break from school every once in a while.

Ellie Choa
Major(s): Human Biology
College: Eleanor Roosevelt College
Hometown: San Fransisco, California
Class Year: Senior
Goals: I am a very positive and optimistic individual, which is why I am running for Social Events Chair. I understand the importance of community, and am committed to creating a sense of unity among all members. In my experiences in leadership, I have felt first-hand the discomfort that can take place from disorganization, incompetence, and discord. I am dedicated to putting forth 110% into what I do, so that none of the above will take place. My strengths are as follows: creativity (I am very good at developing original ideas that are both raw and entertaining), determination (I stick with something until the job is done), optimism (I count blessings and find silver linings), and affability (I am very easy to get along with, and always willing to make another friend.) My friendliness and sociable nature make me a strong candidate for this position. My resolve and drive assures that, if appointed, I will do my very best. Thank you.

Major(s): Physiology and Neuroscience, Sociology-Science and Medicine
College: Eleanor Roosevelt College
Hometown: San Jose, California
Class Year: Sophomore
Goals: My main goal for the year is to inspire students to explore their
options as a UCSD biology undergraduate student and to learn from their
peers’ experiences. I want to create the foundation for a strong freshmen
involvement within BSSA. I believe that by becoming dedicated to an
association early in your college career, you have the opportunity to
continue with it the rest of your undergraduate years. I also hope the
relationship that each mentor and mentee pair makes will definitely give
them the opportunity to lead or to be guided to a successful path.

Goals: Since transfers often have a hard time getting used to the environment at UCSD, and since biology is such a large department, I would like to give new transfer students the opportunity to form a supportive group to facilitate their process of getting settled into the university. Members can help me with this process by maybe forming a partnership program like the one the freshmen have, in which a new transfer student is paired with a student who’s already completed some time at the university.

Class Year: Senior
Goals:
• I want to have events that are hosted to really tailor to our students. I want to know how to encourage more people to come. I want to know what interest them.
• We spend money on these things so it should be an event that people want to come because it’s interesting. That will be my main goal: reach out and know what people want.
• I will probably start with a really good shout-out on the day of GBM, get my own possand have them as my poll people and ask around ☺
• I want a good variety: a lot of freshmen and sophomore so they can give me fresh ideas ☺ and a lot of seniors to help with the senior reception later in the air.
